Mass Extinctions Events

Several mass extinctions are recorded in the fossil record. Paleontologists have been able to recognize patterns within and between extinction events. Currently, there are five major extinction patterns recognized. Steven M. Stanley, has outlined them in his book entitled, Extinction –

Mount Sinabung

I watch for these kinds of things and I think you all should know about the eruptions taking place on Mount Sinabung in Indonesia. Folks chuckle at me when I talk about “super volcanos” and the impact they might have on this planet compared to us human beings. This regular volcano in Sumatra has been erupting on and off since September of 2013. It cranked up back in 2010 after more than 400 years of peace and quiet. The current eruption spewed a massive cloud of superheated gas over 4 miles high. Can’t stop this carbon dioxide source or even tax it! It will do as it wills and we’ll suffer the consequences on a global basis.

Ray Bradbury is Dead

This is a tragic day for all of us who love the masterfully crafted story. Ray Bradbury passed away Tuesday night June 5th, 2012. With his passing so passes the greatest living american author. He was born in Waukegan, Illinois on August 22, 1920. He graduated high school in 1938 and never went to college but he never stopped learning. His first published short story was “Hollerbochen’s Dilemma.”

100 in 365

I’m on picture number 3 out of 100 to complete in 2012. As I’ve been developing this project the process and material of the project has become clear to me. What I’m going to do is use only my camera on my iPhone 4s and I will use finishing tools either on the phone, iPad or Mac but no Photoshop, Lightroom or other pro tools. I’m also going to try and focus on small objects. This gives the project cohesion. Enjoy.
