Mexico

Man by Glass Window #2

A few years back we went on a family vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Puerto Vallarta has an interesting past relevant to the US. For the most part people remember The Night of the Iguana, a  Tennessee Williams stage play being made over into a feature film. The director John Huston was known for other great films like The Man Who Would Be KingThe Life and Times of Judge Roy BeanThe African Queen and The Maltese Falcon.

Love Bridge

Also well-known is the affair between Richard Burton and  Elizabeth Taylor. Burton had a “love bridge” built between his house and hers. It still can be seen today. It was all the Hollywood scandal.

Tennessee Williams is also known for writing The Glass Menagerie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and A Streetcar Named Desire among other plays.. Williams spent much of his time in Provincetown on Cape Cod. A great little town to visit.

Another famous resident of this town in Mexico was James Earl Ray who at that time was a budding porn photographer (or wanted to be). He failed so poorly he left Puerto Vallarta and headed to California and eventually to the Lorraine Motel in Memphis where he shot and killed Martin Luther King Jr.

I took a lot of photographs while we were there. It’s sad the state Mexico is in today.
